Normas éticas

Revista Ciencia y Conexión is governed by the principles of scientific integrity, editorial responsibility, and unrestricted respect for the rights of individuals involved in research. The following ethical standards are based on international guidelines for scientific research, as adopted in the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity (July 22–24, 2010): https://www.singaporestatement.org/

1. Complaints and Appeals Policy

The journal recognizes the right of authors, reviewers, and readers to submit complaints or appeals regarding editorial decisions or publication processes.

Complaints may relate to dissatisfaction with the review process, editorial timelines, inappropriate conduct, or communication failures.

Appeals may be submitted when an author considers that an editorial decision (acceptance, rejection, or request for revisions) has been unfair or based on incomplete information.

Procedure:

  • The complainant must send a formal communication to the Editorial Committee explaining the reasons in detail.

  • The Editor-in-Chief will review the case and may request the participation of an associate editor or independent external reviewers.

  • The journal commits to responding within a maximum period of fifteen (15) business days.

  • Final decisions will be communicated by email and will be final and non-appealable.

2. Errata and Retraction Policy

The journal is committed to ensuring the accuracy and quality of published articles. Therefore:

2.1 Errata

Errata will be published when minor errors are identified that do not affect the main results or conclusions of the article. They will be issued in the nearest available issue, indicating the affected article and the type of correction.

2.2 Retractions

Retractions will be issued when:

  • Scientific fraud is detected (data fabrication or falsification).

  • Significant plagiarism is identified.

  • Serious errors invalidate the findings.

  • Ethical issues arise in data collection.

Retractions will follow COPE guidelines and will include a detailed explanation of the reasons. The original article will remain accessible but clearly marked as retracted to ensure transparency in the scientific record.

3. Conflict of Interest Policy

All authors, reviewers, and editors must declare any financial, academic, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation or evaluation of the manuscript.

  • Authors must include an explicit declaration in their article.

  • Reviewers must inform the editor of any relationship that may compromise their impartiality.

  • Editors must refrain from participating in editorial decisions when a conflict of interest exists.

The journal reserves the right to request additional clarifications and, in serious cases, to reject or withdraw an article.

4. Data Sharing and Reproducibility Policy

To promote scientific transparency, the journal encourages the availability of data and materials used in research.

  • Authors must indicate whether data are publicly available, available upon request, or subject to ethical or legal restrictions.

  • The use of open repositories (Zenodo, Figshare, OSF, Dryad, among others) is recommended.

  • Articles must accurately describe the methods used to facilitate reproducibility.

  • When codes or algorithms are involved, access must be provided through repositories or supplementary materials.

  • The journal may request the original data if necessary to verify the integrity of the study.

5. Procedures to Ensure Ethical Standards in Research Involving Human Subjects

Any manuscript involving human participants must demonstrate that the research was conducted under strict ethical standards:

  • The study must have been approved by a recognized Research Ethics Committee.

  • Current national regulations must be complied with.

Authors must attach:

  • Ethical approval number.

  • Responsible institution.

  • Date of approval.

  • Any risks, benefits, or protective measures implemented for participants.
