Proceso de revisión

Peer Review
The Editorial Committee of Revista Ciencia y Conexión will examine each article based on criteria of relevance, coherence, contribution to knowledge, and will decide on the suitability of its publication.
The Editor places special emphasis on the following aspects:

  • The article must be unpublished, which implies that it has not been previously published, either in whole or in part, in any journal, whether in print or electronic format. At the time of submission, authors are required to provide a declaration stating that the manuscript is not under evaluation by another academic journal and will not be submitted elsewhere until a final decision is issued by the Editorial Committee of Revista Ciencia y Conexión. Likewise, the journal verifies this condition at various stages of the process, even after acceptance of the manuscript, but prior to its publication.

  • Originality / innovation of the article.

  • Clarity of the text.

  • Usefulness / interest for readers.

  • Scientific rigor.

  • Well-founded conclusions.

  • Potential impact factor of the article, especially in the case of research articles.

Stages of the Review Process
The manuscript will undergo an initial review by the associate editors, who will verify its compliance with the requirements established in the Guidelines for Authors. If the manuscript does not meet these guidelines, it will be returned to the author(s) within a period not exceeding five (5) days so that the relevant corrections may be made. The text is also evaluated using the Turnitin tool in order to verify proper referencing and to prevent cases of plagiarism and/or self-plagiarism.

Manuscripts that meet the requirements will be subject to an internal evaluation by the Editorial Committee, which will determine which articles will be sent for review to two academic peer reviewers external to the publishing institution, who are experts in the areas related to the journal. Reviewers must use the evaluation form corresponding to Revista Ciencia y Conexión. The review process will be double-blind, meaning that the author does not know the identity of the reviewers and the reviewers do not know the identity of the author. This procedure will be carried out in accordance with the article evaluation guideline format used by Revista Ciencia y Conexión, which will be made available to reviewers once they have accepted the evaluation of the article using the access code assigned during their registration as reviewers. The evaluation guideline document must include the reviewer’s substantiated recommendation regarding the publication of the article. Reviewers will have a period of eight (8) calendar days to issue their decision on the article assigned to them.

In cases where an article receives one favorable and one unfavorable review, a third reviewer will be appointed, whose opinion will be considered final. The Editorial Committee will be responsible for resolving any disputes arising from the evaluations, as well as for making the final decision regarding the publication of articles. The decisions of the Editorial Committee are final. The author undertakes to make the formal adjustments suggested by the reviewers or the journal’s editorial team. Authors will have a period of ten (10) calendar days to make the required revisions.

Once the articles have been accepted and the corresponding adjustments and clarifications have been made by the authors, they will undergo an orthotypographical editing process, in which the individual style of each text is respected. The established timeframe for layout and design is five (5) calendar days.

Review Process Timeline
The time required to obtain a response depends on the availability of reviewers and the speed with which the authors implement the recommendations. On average, this process takes approximately thirty (30) days. During this period, authors are requested to refrain from submitting their article to other Science, Technology, and Innovation journals. If an article receives objections or is rejected by the reviewers, the journal will inform the author of the evaluation results.
